Quote interpretation
Quote; “ I pushed a couple of buttons and the machine speaks the words I’ve never been able to say “ I Love You”.
I think this quote reveals some of her identity because this shows that she is really appreciates every thing her parents do for her and that she loves them. Melody is so caring and has a kind heart and I think this made her parents feel so appreciated. I think when she said that it was kind of like melody was giving her parents recognition for what they did for her. I think melody made unconscious choice to make those words hers because Melody feels that her identity is impacted my all the good choices she makes. But most people think that it’s only on the bad choices you make. But in all realty it’s your good and bad choices and your conscious and unconscious choices too. Melody is judged on her outside, not the inside. Melody can finally stick up for herself, and do things she was never able to do. It is her choice to if she is going to let go of all the mean and awful things that people said to her. I think it is and conscious choice because some of the things people said really hurt her. I think she will let it go because that is the type of person she is. Her identity, is more than just kind and respectful, she is spontaneous, intelligent, and incredibly smart. This quote expresses how she feels. She has so many metaphors that describe her life, like the one in the book, it’s a fish and her fish jumps out of the bowl, and it kind of like melody because she is stuck in her head and she just want to jump out of her head. There are so many metaphors that describe her life. Her life is like her trying jump out of her mind. She has all the thoughts up in her head and I really don’t know if she could share her thoughts though. Her thoughts are pretty much her life, there is no way to get around them. She has like this world inside her mind that she lives in most of the time. One question we have been asking the whole time is “If Melody could talk, would she still be Melody?”
Melody’s cerebral palsy make her, her and that is who she is, no one can change that. I think melody wishes she was “normal” but that would not be melody. Melody has a brain that would blow every body’s mind, even Melody! She has the kindest hart. Just from the book I read about her I could kind of know how she was feeling. This quote kind of expresses her feelings for her parents, and how she feels. This quote show a lot about her identity, like kind and caring and that appreciates every thing they did for her, like her Medi-Talker that changed her life for ever and that was because her parents. Over all some of Melody’s identity was revealed from this quote and I think that she loves her parents so much and really appreciates what they do for her.
